La Ruka Hostel

In 2011 a pirate and a mermaid fell in love and started La Ruka. Being travelers we understand what it can feel like to be constantly on the go and/or homesick. Our goal was to create a home, not just a hostel. We would like our guests to feel as if they are at home and feel free to relax, unwind, and just be themselves. With the help of our friends and family from around the world we have been graciously able to make this happen.Located just on the edge of the town, La Ruka is a short stroll away onto a beautiful and vibrant jungle side property. It is just far enough way to hear the true sounds of the jungle at night, but close enough for a walk or bike ride to grab a bite to eat and listen to some live music. Walking into the reception you will be welcomed with a warm smile and positive vibes. If you arrive in the morning the person behind the desk will most likely be one of the owners, Dannie or Dave. And if not they, another fellow backpacker will guide you through the property to get your bearings and meet up with other travelers playing pool, sharing a community meal or enjoying good conversation over a little Caribbean green.
